WHAT’S THE BRIEF?
Sam Howell has been a long-term friend who we have worked together on for numerous projects from websites to apps. Sam came up wit an idea and we made a demo of it in Construct 3. Due to scope and work picking up the project ended up on the side. After a while we decided to give it a look again with the new skills we had developed in Unity and created a proof of concept which Sam loved.
What we wanted to do was create a simple easy to control platforming game for mobile devices without the hassle of in game adverts interrupting the gameplay. You control a potato called Dave. with 5 worlds and 35 levels collecting crisps and avoiding enemies.
Potato Dave is currently available on both the Android and iOS Stores.
WHAT WE DID
We used the skills we have honed over the years in game development to create a custom level editor in unity, this editor would allow the client to quickly compose, save and edit levels for rapid testing. This editor went through two main versions before we felt the controls were simple and fast enough for the client to create levels easily and efficiently.
Separate to the level editor we also composed the actual game files, using a level importer we could import and generate the levels from the level editor files and implement them for a build on Android and iOS.

THE RESULT
As a result we produced a game for Android and iOS stores which displays a variety of our skills. From the creation of a custom level editor, complex and simple to UX and powerups such as jetpacks. This project really allowed us to branch out and test out our skills in a variety of ways.
