WHAT’S THE BRIEF?

We were approached to take existing pump models and convert them into a format that Netzch could be used for a spinning Hologram AR experience. After looking over the models we found them to be standard .STL format, And although this is great for prototyping and designing, we decided to use the model as a base and create a new one with a proper UV system so we could appropriately texture the pumps without issue.

WHAT WE DID

Using our 3D modelling experience we used Blender to create a 3D model using the .STL files as a base, This made sure that the pump models didn’t have any strange artifacts, As well as allowing us to properly UV unwrap the models for better texturing.

We also created A turntable in Unreal Engine 4, With its material system we could setup and record a video loop while using UE4s graphical prowess for better imagery.

THE RESULT

The result came out quite nicely, now a Hologram AR fan can load up the file made and start up displaying the ar video loaded, We had to tweak the colours around a bit as the software would enhance some areas and make others a bit too bright.

We supplied the files ready to be loaded into the fans that can then be used anywhere such as stage shows or demonstrations.
