WHY DO WE DO IT?

With the tools and software we use every year updates and changes are made, as market demands change and products require different toolsets, Engines or languages to create. We are constantly battling to improve our skills and keep ourselves up to date.

Creating products for IP / testing or simply for research. We have developed numerous products and tools as we exercise what we have learnt throughout our careers.

HERE ARE SOME EXAMPLES

Here are some of the projects we have looked into and ideas we tried out. There is a wide variety ranging from game dev and level generation to Virtual reality and custom editor tools and Node JS.

  • We developed a game prototype where you go through worlds of levels moving left and right to attack bubble monsters. This prototype contains eight levels to play with one boss battle.

  • We took a look at the Unity software and developed a game which we could use as a base for client work. This prototype contains a controllable player which has to jump over obstacles and wall jump around hazards with the aim of making it to the goal as fast as possible.

  • A big part of game development is practising with the tools you use, We took a look an an existing game Flappy Birds and remade it in the Unity Game engine over a free couple of days.

  • The UKGF opened up and so we took an existing game idea we had and pitched it. This game was a side vs side monster battler where you gain money over time which you can use to summon monsters to fight for you.

  • In an attempt to create a prototype to pitch to the UKGF we developed a mega man-esque game where you navigate the world jumping off walls, fight enemies and defeat bosses.

  • To practise our skills we took a look at some of the old game classics, broke down their functionality and components before remaking them in the Construct game Engine. This helped us learn how old games handled simple forms of ai, enemy iteration and game flow.

  • When we were approached by a client to develop a game, we needed to create a game level editor which could save. load, update and test the level in the same program. This way the client could create their own levels for the game they want.

  • Using Unity we created a mobile portfolio app for Android that shows some of our skills such as Augmented Reality which uses SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) to place a model on a surface.

  • After looking at the Tank Museum we made a tank top trumps prototype game where you could compare their stats from attack power to defence and speed.
